5 Marketing Trends to Look Out for in 2022

As we prepare for a new year, it’s important to keep track of what marketing trends are on the rise in the world of digital marketing. Part of the reason why businesses thrive is because they keep their ear to the streets when it comes to new technological innovations and trends. Marketing touches every business and industry you can think of, therefore all business owners should be keeping their eyes and ears on the latest trends.

We’ve scoured the internet, picked up on the patterns, and gathered the top 5 marketing trends to look out for in 2022. Trends are a great opportunity to distinguish your brand and get ahead of the competition. So, let’s get right to it.

1. Meta is here. Take advantage.

When Facebook announced that they were changing their name to Meta, it’s safe to say we were a bit surprised, however, I was not as surprised when they introduced the Metaverse. The metaverse is a 3-D virtual space where users can gather and interact, participate in groups, and engage in a new storytelling experience. We previously mentioned the rise of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality and it looks like the Metaverse is making it happen. This industry is expected to grow up to $209.2 billion in 2022 and The Metaverse will give business owners a new avenue to display their products and consumers will have a new way to shop. It would be a good idea for business owners to look into adding this to their marketing strategies.

2. Short-form video

Short-form video is already here and it’s safe to say it’s not going anywhere. Short-form video has the highest ROI of any social media marketing strategy. People love to consume video content and it seems as if the shorter it is the better. Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat Spotlight are just some of the short-form video segments built into all your favorite video apps. Short-form video has given rise to social media trends and has become a greater way to connect communities. Shorter videos are helping business owners not only gain awareness but also gain influence and connect with consumers. TikTok and Reels are definitely not going anywhere, if you neglected them in 2021 you should include them in 2022.

3. Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing, like short-form video, is not going anywhere in 2022 and the best part is you don’t have to be as big as Beyonce to be one. In 2021, influencer marketing grew over 42%, so it would be safe to say this growth is not slowing down. Social media recognized the rise in influencers on their platforms and created spaces for them to collaborate with other brands and creators. Influencers have given us joy and authenticity and they’ve shown us that you don’t have to be polished to be successful. In 2022, brands should look to partner with creators who foster relationships with their community on social media.

4. Prioritize SEO

Marketing is not just social media, your SEO matters too. SEO is still a leading source of new business and traffic for most companies. Google is continuing to work to refine its algorithm more in 2022. Google will show users searches according to their previous searches and interests. With the implementation of voice recognition, keyword searching will have more practical results. As a strategy for 2022, prioritize long-form content such as blogging, mobile-friendly content, and image optimization.

5. The Customer is Key

Marketing is no longer about making the sale, it’s about providing a seamless customer experience that keeps them coming back for more. It’s why we rave over Chick-Fil-A and Publix and why we love to spend hours in IKEA even if we never buy anything. From start to finish customers expect a seamless experience and it’s your job to give it to them. Personalized marketing messages, a quick and easy purchasing experience, and a friendly nature are a few keys needed to satisfy your customers. Every aspect of your marketing strategy should include some thought about what the customer wants and how to convey that in the best way possible.

2022 is here. The future of marketing is AI, VR, SEO, Social Media, Influencer Marketing, and more. Now’s the time to start planning for 2022. Stay customer-focused, stay consistent, and stay authentic. Content, customers, and community are going to be the foundation for your success next year.
