Emory University
Located in the historic Druid Hills neighborhood, this location is a serene and picturesque setting characterized by its lush, wooded landscapes. The campus is littered with towering pines, maples, oaks, and magnolias that contribute to a tranquil atmosphere. These trees, along with other foliage, provide a natural canopy that adds to the beauty of the university. This unique combination of architectural elegance and natural elements makes Emory’s Atlanta campus a perfect place for a photo shoot, especially during November and December.
Atlanta History Center
The Atlanta History Center is located in Buckhead, is one of the largest history museums in the southeast. The museum offers more than 20 onsite and online exhibitions about the people and cultures that have shaped the history of Atlanta, including a fully restored cyclorama painting of The Battle of Atlanta. Spanning across 33 acres this property features historic mansions and is also home to 5 gardens and wildlife and nature trails. The Swan House, located on the property was one of many Georgia-set locations used in the film “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” In the fall and winter months this location provides a perfect backdrop for elegant photos for family and special occasions.
Piedmont Park
Piedmont Park is located about a mile northeast of Downtown Atlanta. The park covers 185 acres and features ponds, swimming pools, picnic areas and several paths and trails. The park is home to several festivals throughout the year including Atlanta Jazz Fest, Atlanta Pride Festival, Music Midtown and the Atlanta Dogwood Festival. The park gives a beautiful view of Midtown reflecting into one of the ponds. The open fields, lush grassy areas and beautiful city skyline views make Piedmont Park one of the best places in Atlanta for some beautiful photos. The park features three historic venues that are popular destinations for weddings and other private events, including Magnolia Hall. A park map can be found as you exit the parking deck and several more maps can be found at various locations throughout the park. The park also connects to Atlanta’s popular Beltline Eastside trail making it easily accessible.
Atlanta Botanical Gardens
The Atlanta Botanical Gardens is a stunning location for photos year round. From mid November to mid December every year the park is decorated with a spectacular holiday lights display. The winter event features winter foliage and thousands of twinkling Christmas lights throughout the gardens. The gardens also feature lighted art exhibits including “Skyline Frost” by Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics. This is a beautiful location to take photos with friends and family. Be sure to bundle up, as a majority of the display is outdoors. The highlight of the event is a display of lights through a walking path through the trees synchronized with Christmas music.
North Georgia Waterfalls
Around an hour and a half north of Atlanta, North Georgia is home to some breathtaking waterfalls. The north Georgia cities of Dahlonega, Yonah, and Helen are home to scenic state parks such as Vogel Stage Park, Unicoi State Park, and Smithgall Woods State Park. These parks are home to winding mountain trails, babbling creeks, and stunning waterfalls. These mountainous backdrops make for amazing photographs for any occasion. Amicola Creek Trail, or Edge of the World trail, is a short walk from the parking lot and features a creek that is a popular destination in summer and winter alike. Raven Cliff Falls Trail is a much longer hike that follows a winding creek ultimately leading to a large waterfall. In the winter months, these trails can feature icicles and snow makings for enticing winter wonderland photos.
